What is Pure and Sensitive?

Hello lovelies,

It's 2 days to Christmas. Yippee!!! I'm so excited about it. This is the season to be merry. And in my merriment, I thought it'd be nice to share this lovely post that has been brewing in my draft for weeks.

What is pure and sensitive?
Have you ever wondered why some products are named "For Sensitive Skin"?
And why others are labeled" For All Skin Types"?

Are you among those that upon seeing "For Sensitive Skin" immediately drop it and say, "My skin's not sensitive."
Or do you grab it at once and say, "I think this product will be better for me because my skin is very sensitive."

Well, whichever one you belong to or might find yourself saying, the truth is that the best skincare products for you do not lie in the tags or labels. They lie in the ingredients. And that should be key to you. Here's an Ingredient Dictionary to guide you while you search for your best buys.

By now,  it should no longer be news to you that my favorite facial wash still remains: Olay Foaming Face Wash Sensitive Skin!  **hugs**
I've got 4pcs stashed in my supply. I don't ever
want to run out of it. D
Why the Sensitive Skin formula, you might ask. Well, my skin is not sensitive in the very least but personally, when searching for products to try out, I always give every sensitive skin formula I see more attention first before I begin with others. I rarely buy or give attention to any product labeled "For All Skin Type".
Whenever you see a product labeled "Sensitive Skin", it may have one or more of the following:
1. No fragrance
2. No colors (whether artificial or otherwise)
3. No parabens (this is a topic for another day)

Fragrance and color are added to products to improve its cosmetic appeal. The fact that a product indicates that it's for sensitive skin does not automatically mean it is free of skin irritants and vice versa. I have used some not-so-heavily-fragranced face moisturiser that didn't irritate my skin.

So basically when shopping, if you can help it, a sensitive skin formula, is a great point to start from.

Back to raving about my face wash, this is not your regular strawberry, coconut-y wash with some unnaturally pink color. It's a pearlescent, translucent gel that's somewhat cream in color. It has no fragrance at all so it ends up smelling sort of medical or pharmaceutical, I can't exactly place it, but it doesn't linger.

Pros:
It lathers well.
It removes makeup nicely (even my water-proof mascara)
It removes oil, dirt and grime.
It doesn't leave my face dry and tight after rinsing it off. It is not stripping.
What's best? It rinses clear.
What else am I looking for in a facial wash? If they ever stop making this product, fear not. I have back up: Clean and Clear Advantage Soothing Acne Wash. Read up more about it here.
Cons:
None for now.

Moving on to the real reason for this post's title, is the new Dove products I discovered and fell in love with.
Dove Pure and Sensitive cream bar
Dove Pure and Sensitive cream body wash.

Claims:
Dove Pure and Sensitive Shower Cream: No Parabens
Dove Pure and Sensitive Cream Bar: No parabens; No fragrance

The fact that these products are free of parabens mean nothing to me. And as I earlier said, paraben is not up for discussion or review today. Read up more here on the paraben or no paraben issue.

The cream wash is not without fragrance but I like it because it is not too strong. More or less like a mild powdery fragrance. It is white in color and has the consistency of a thick body lotion. It doesn't lather easily and when it finally lathers, it doesn't produces so much lather. I think for the first time in a long time, I really enjoyed bathing with a shower cream. For the first time ever, a Dove shower cream disappointed me.

My first experience with a Dove shower cream and/or cream bar was that it didn't stop lathering! I kept rinsing and rinsing yet I still felt soapy. And to think I was using hard water at the time. I had assumed that this one would be just like the rest. Long story short, I was impressed with it.
Am I in love with the shower cream?  Yes.
Will I be repurchasing? Yes, it lathers well and leaves me moisturized.

The cream bar, on the other side, lived up to the usual Dove cream bar standard: creamy and milky. It lathered up pretty nicely (lather is creamy/milky as well) and didn't leave any slimy residue afterwards. This bar soap has no fragrance at all.
Am I in love with the cream bar? Yes, it lathers more than the shower cream.
Will I repurchase? No. Since I don't use it on my face, I'm not so keen on the no-fragrance.

The great thing about the Dove Bath creams and bars, is that they cleanse the skin without leaving it dry and tight.

Having said this, will they succeed in pushing out my Nubian Heritage Goat's Milk and Chai soap completely?
Errr, I'll use them for a while before I decide. So you guys should watch out !
Till next time dearie.

Merry Christmas in advance.
xoxo

Ifeoma.

  2. Hello Precious,
When you say "tone" do you mean it with reference to skin firming? To tighten and tone?
Or do you mean even tone with respect to the skin's complexion? As if to lighten???

If it's the former, I recommend Dove Skin Firming Body Wash, Olay Age-Defying Body Wash or Olay Firming Butter Body Wash?

If it's the latter, then Olay Goat's Milk Body wash or Jergens Goat's Milk Body Wash. But please bear in mind that the Goat's Milk Body Washes are not made by the real Olay and/or Jergens. They are imitation products.
    But, they work just fine.

    I hope that helps.
