Fabulous Acne Regimen for the Oily Skin Girl!

How was the week? Mine was fabulous.

Fabulous seem to be the hottest word on my lips right now. Well, what can I do? The word just crept in. 

I have fabulously oily skin. And I love it.

LOL, I have embraced myself the way I am ooo. You can't really fight the oils. It's like fighting yourself. You may ask how do I know if I am a true oily-skinned girl? A girl with oily facial skin?

Someone with an oily skin has an over-productive sebaceous gland; it only takes about 20-50 minutes after shower to see visible oil production [preferably without makeup on] on the forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, nose, temples and chin. All over the face literally.

I get oily on my eyelids as well.

Most people with oily skin have large, visible pores so much so that their skin look like orange peel. They have pimples and/or acne, whiteheads, blackheads and sometimes PIH [post-inflamatory hyperpigmentation]. So, for many people with oily skin, the everyday battle for clear skin is real.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I have seen people with oily skin that have extremely clear, smooth and blemish-free faces. Just that the entire skin is oily. 

So just because one has oily skin does not necessarily mean that they must have breakouts. They are only prone to breakouts.

Well, if you are like me with the full package: oily skin, breakouts, whiteheads and all, then these fabulous regimen might be what you have to consider.

I have taken the guessing away and brought you this simple daily regimen from the Clean and Clear Advantage line.

The Clean and Clear Advantage line has a “Tough on Acne, Not Your Skin” slogan. So let’s delve in and see how.

STEP 1: Cleanse

Clean and Clear Advantage Daily Soothing Wash

This cleanser does a good job with
removing oil, dirt and makeup.

This is a simple face wash that is great for removing dirt, grime, oil and makeup. I like my cleansers straight to the point. I am of the opinion that a cleanser should be everything but fancy. What’s the point in putting too much fancy ingredients in a product that will just be on the skin for only few seconds?

This Daily Soothing Wash actually contains aloe and avocado extract; this is definitely a plus to irritated skin.

It contains Salicylic Acid [SA] as well which I personally find unnecessary. Because at the end of the day, it will only end up in the sink drainer as soon as it’s out of the bottle. Don’t miss the point here, that it has SA is a plus but an unnecessary one because you will not leave the cleanser enough for it penetrate.

In all, it is a fantastic facial cleanser that does a great job at cleansing the skin without over-stripping it.

STEP 2: Exfoliate [optional]

Clean and Clear Advantage Daily Soothing Scrub

Like the cleanser, this is a salicylic acid based product. But because this product will be rinsed off almost immediately, the salicylic acid is also unnecessary here.

That does not stop this scrub from being a fantastic scrub though. 

I like it because it is gentle enough to scrub away dead skin without irritating the skin.

It is not too abrasive, as you can see, the exfoliators in it are round green balls. Round exfoliators are less irritating. 

It also rinses clear. I always have problems with scrubs being too creamy that they leave oily residue but this one is just the right texture. Use this scrub twice weekly.

As with all scrubs, use common sense and be gentle on the skin. Over-scrubbing will only lead to irritated skin and thus defeat the purpose.

STEP 3: Treat

Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment

I don’t know about you but this is my most favorite step second only to Step 1. The product itself is self-explanatory. It screams SPOT TREAT! Which means apply to only problem areas. End of story!

A little goes a long way. This tiny size is
enough for both of my cheeks. Lol!

You know how I have been saying in the Steps 1 and 2 that even though including salicylic acid in them is a good thing but was just unnecessary?

This product is the real Salicylic Acid treatment because it is leave-on. And as with all leave-on products, do NOT rinse.

It helps with skin resurfacing, unclogging pores, clearing whiteheads and deep-seated blackheads. This is what leaving Salicylic Acid on the skin does for you! Isn't it such an amazing ingredient?

STEP 4: Moisturize

Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer

I know a lot of oily-skinned girls hate the word moisturize. They always think oils when they hear moisture. "Fear not, moisture simply means water."

This moisturizer is oil-free and will keep the skin healthy. Beside, you need to moisturize your skin after all that salicylic acid treatment which will definitely end up leaving the skin very dry.

In addition, applying moisturizers to the skin helps to create a balance in your skin's oil production. In the end, your skin will produce oils but it will not be as much as when you did not use a moisturizer.

If you stop this regimen at Step 3 because you don’t want to use a moisturizer, you will only end up with dry, flaky and irritated skin. So, instead of avoiding moisturizers altogether, opt for oil-free ones. And your skin will thank you for it.
