Queen Helene Super Cholesterol

Hello everyone,
It feels super duper good to blog again.

I have satisfied a long time craving to have ombre braids as a protective style. And I was really content with my final look. Here’s what it looked like. You like?

3 weeks after I made the braids, boredom set in (as usual) and the braids started looking rough. Thanks to the rain. I got drenched one day and my stretched ends reverted back to curls and clearly stuck out from the braids.
I took my braids out and there was no telling what I’d do to my hair.

Deep condition.

Deep condition.
Deep condition.
Moisturizing deep conditioning.

I ran out of deep conditioners so I was stuck with which to buy. My choice was between Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise and Queen Helene Super Cholesterol.

I read other people’s review of both products and then bought the Vitale Hair Mayonnaise. But by the time I got home, I knew I would have to go back to the store for an exchange. Because when I re-read another blogger’s review, where she mentioned that the particles in the mayonnaise (probably the oats) was so difficult to rinse off completely because they stuck in her hair, I immediately knew I wouldn’t want any of that trouble.

This pump top makes it super easy to dispense the product.
Also prevents contamination by hand.

Thick, yellow, creamy. Looks yummy!

I got mine at CasaBella store in Ajose Adeogun. So, I went back there and got the Queen Helene Super Cholesterol instead. Worst case scenario, I will tailor it to suit me.

Ingredients:
Water
Glyceryl Stearate
Mineral Oil
Stearyl Alcohol
Lanolin
Myristamidopropyl dimethylamine phosphate
Cholesterol
Glycerin
Propylene glycol
Centrimonium chloride
Keratin amino acids
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice
Phenoxyethanol
Fragrance
Methyl paraben
Disodium EDTA
Color [Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red #40, Red #33)

I know it has Mineral Oil as its third ingredient and some naturals may detest this. But I must say that mineral oil in a moisturizing deep conditioner is actually good. It helps with sealing. Moreso, you won't be using this daily, it's not leave-in, plus the instruction says rinse off with warm water. With these, you and your hair will be just fine.

And so I pre-pooed my hair by lightly spritzing it with warm water, applied my cantu leave in conditioner and a mixture of castor and coconut oil. And covered with a shower cap.

I let this stay for 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. My hair needed some serious clarifying. So I used my Dudu Osun as shampoo.

All I needed was one wash to get my hair and scalp well clarified. After shampooing, I towel blotted and immediately applied coats of the Queen Helene Super Cholesterol to my hair.
I use my conditioners lavishly.
I covered with a shower cap and voila, all I need to do now is wait for the next one hour.
Now, would be a great time to do house chores, watch a movie or work out. I did laundry.

Once my deep conditioning time is up, I pour a little water to make it lather and rinsed product out thoroughly. I like the texture of my hair after this. Really soft and shiny.

I towel blotted and applied my shea butter mixture and any Cantu leave-in conditioning cream. And that's it!

After moisturizing and styling
Sorry for the poor quality of photos. This photo does no justice to the style.
2nd day hair.

Has any one ever used the Queen Helene Super Cholesterol before?
Don't be fooled by the unattractive packaging. It really packs a punch with moisture.

And oh, I need to mention that I didn't need to doctor the Cholesterol again. It worked perfectly fine on its own.

See other lovely Queen Helene products. They even have a Cholesterol with Argan Oil. I will try that out once I run out of this one and share my experience with you. Till then...

Much love beauts,

xoxo
Ify.
